His general approach is to provide a maximum of comfort by using an expertly balanced mixture of contemporary and antique furnishings. These furnishings are placed against backgrounds which reflect his subtle color mix. The result is that the eye is more aware of the overall glow of tint, rather than individual colors. Michael DePerno began his career in design at ABC Carpet and Home in New York in 1990, designing the merchandise displays and display windows on Broadway. He soon ventured out on his own, opening his first shop, Hope & Wilder in Soho, which featured antiques, fabrics and a custom upholstery collection. With this shop he established a presence with buyers for some of the top designers in the city, including Martha Stewart, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein.
